Another Forgiveness Hint

Some people are perplexedAnger Mgt 2 that they can still feel some anger after they have worked so hard to forgive. Anger is not necessarily something that can go away by willing it away. It can take time to fade. So, ask yourself this question: Is the anger controlling me or am I in control of my anger? If you are the one in control, realize that you are well along the path of forgiveness.

Thank you for this hint. Anger has been a stumbling block for me. Maybe I will have some of it for a long time, but it is not controlling me now.

  2. Chris says:

This is a good lesson in patience. Forgiveness unfolds for me. It is not like an “all or none” issue. Having some anger tells me that I am imperfect and that I might need to do some more work of forgiveness.

  3. Martha says:

I used to be afraid of my own anger, you know, becoming too temperamental. Learning to forgive has helped me to control my anger so I need not fear it any more. Sure I can get angry just like anyone else, but it is more ok now thanks to forgiveness.

But shouldn’t we distinguish between anger that is not so bad for us and the really bad kind? I mean if a little anger gets us going/motivates us then why be concerned about it? Why try to get rid of it. We all can feel angry from time to time. If we try to get rid of it all that just does not seem natural to me.

It is nice to know that I do not have to be perfect in this. Sometimes when we think about forgiveness we think of all the issues being wrapped up in a gift box with a nice ribbon on it. Yet, that box still may be a little bent, the bow not quite straight, but it is an intended gift nonetheless.

  6. Josh says:

The moral of this story is that we are always growing in character if we commit to forgiveness. It never seems to be easy, does it? We need perseverance and courage to accomplish it.
